    How flags are grouped

Flags tend to share design language with their neighbours. Nordic countries use offset crosses. Pan-African countries use red, gold and green. Pan-Arab flags use red, white, black and green. Once you spot the pattern, whole regions click into place.

That also means some flags are dangerously alike — see flags that look almost identical and the hardest flags quiz.

    Frequently asked questions

How many flags are there in the world?

There are 195 recognised country flags — 193 UN member states plus Vatican City and Palestine. FlagMaster teaches all of them.

What's the best way to learn flags?

A few minutes often. Short quizzes beat hour-long study. That's exactly how FlagMaster is built.

    Where should a beginner start?

Colours and shapes come first, names come later. FlagMaster's Rookie level uses picture-first quizzes with spoken questions — take the 5-flag warm-up to find your level.

    Are all national flags rectangles?

Nearly all — but Nepal's flag is two stacked triangles, and Switzerland's and Vatican City's are square.
