    The colours are pan-Slavic. The coat of arms depicts Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia, with three yellow stars above it, representing the Counts of Celje.

    History

    The flag was officially adopted on 27 June 1991, following the country's independence from Yugoslavia. The coat of arms was added to the tricolour to differentiate it from the flags of Russia and Slovakia.
